Here is a poem I did for my history class a while ago. It is ment to capture the feeling of the Jews during and after the Holocaust without going deep into the horrors and atrocities of the Holocaust and all that happened.

Adieu
This poem is dedicated to all those who lost their lives during the Holocaust.

Through all the hurt and pain,
Your destruction still remains.
None of us will ever forget,
And many of us feel regret.

Those years changed us all,
Even after your downfall.
We thought it would never end,
And now we are left to make amends.

The air was filled with our screams,
While you commanded your little regime.
What were we to do,
Long after our freedom was overdue?

We wish that it wasn’t real,
And now we must take the time to heal.
What did we ever do to hurt you so much,
That you feared our very touch?

We wonder what it would have been like,
If there had been just one strike.
A strike to end it all,
So we would no longer have to crawl.

You hurt caused many of us distress.
And, sadly, killed us with much success.
What ever did we do,
To cause this great debut?

With all the blood you spilt,
Do you feel any small amount of guilt?
Were you so inhumane,
That you are never going to explain?

Many say we did something wrong,
And we wonder if we belong.
We look to the sky,
And look for some sort of reply.

All we had hoped for was assistance,
And all we were given was distance.
It seemed that all of mankind,
Had suddenly just turned blind.

We hope that future generations
And future nations,
Don’t fall prey to the same pain
And that none of then become vein.

Your actions will never leave,
And will remain in people’s grieves.
There is a permanent scar,
That reaches near and far.

Many of us try to forget,
Although we are still upset.
Our prayers go to the sky,
As the land is left to cry.

If you looked at us today,
All you would see is dismay.
However, we are starting anew,
And no longer believe the untrue.

We are sorry for it all,
And wish we could break this new wall.
Guess your did plan followed through.
Your plan to subdue those less then you.

And now we bid you…adieu.
